Wondimu Tekle Sigo pursed Ph.D. in Economics from Peking University, China in September 2020; Master of Hydraulic Engineering in UNESCO-IHE, Delft, Netherlands in Oct 2002 and BSc Water Resource Engineering, in Arbaminch University, Ethiopia, in Aug 2002. For the past several years, he has been working in Ethiopia as civil servant in various capacities in the development of infrastructure such as energy, irrigation, water supply and sanitation, dams and intake structure. He also carried out several development programs in collaboration with concerned stakeholders including bilateral and multilateral development partners and development financial institutions representing the sector. During Aug 2020 to Oct 2021 he served as Irrigation Commissioner in the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy.
Before he joined the PhD study program from October 2010 to September 2017, he served as State Minister of FDRE Ministry of Water, Irrigation, and Energy. From Oct.2006-Oct. 2010, he served as Deputy General Manager in Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority. During Nov. 2005-Sept. 2006, he worked as General Manager of Southern Ethiopia Water Works Construction Enterprise. From Aug. 2003-Nov. 2005, he served as General Manager of Southern Ethiopia Irrigation Development Authority. During Nov. 2002–Aug. 2003, he worked as Deputy Manager of Southern Ethiopia Irrigation Development Authority. Due to long time successful work accomplishments he received the African Power, Energy, and Water Industry Lifetime Achievement Award in May 2019 at Cape Town South Africa. He his interest area of research are Climate Change and Sustainability, Renewable Energy, Green Economy, Regional Integration, and Water
