            Abstract

In recent years, drug repurposing has emerged as a cost-effective strategy for accelerating the development of new therapies by identifying new uses for existing drugs. However, appropriate resources for drug repurposing endeavors are scattered and hard to find. The RePo4EU1 initiative represents a pioneering effort to streamline and enhance drug repurposing efforts through a comprehensive, integrative platform designed to facilitate knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation among various stakeholders.

RePo4EU focuses on the creation of a multifaceted platform encompassing extensive resources such as the publication portal, databases for members, communities, cell models, animal models, biobanks, pre-clinical to Phase I-II studies and various tools for drug repurposing. Additionally, the platform will include specialized resources for reformulation, business development, and Health Technology Assessment (HTA), amongst others.

The platform will provide sophisticated integrations of tools and interconnections with existing systems for seamless data flow and accessibility, complemented by user-friendly applications and workflows to test ideas in drug repurposing, including decision trees and wizards, which seamlessly guide stakeholders through complex processes. A robust Learning Management System (LMS) will offer multimedia training and support continuous learning, thereby improving the knowledge of the platform users about drug repurposing.

This presentation outlines the developmental timeline and its challenges from the initial requirements analysis and solution design phases in 2023-24 to the full platform rollout by 2027. The platform's key features and anticipated impact on the drug repurposing landscape will be presented. The collaborative potential of REPO4EU will be demonstrated, which facilitates matchmaking and cooperation among researchers, clinicians, industry leaders, and patients, for a more efficient approach to drug repurposing.

Join us to discover how REPO4EU is setting a new standard for innovation and collaboration in the quest for more effective and tailored therapeutic options.
