    Applications of MIP in electronic devices, focusing on use in biosensors

    Molecular imprint polymer (MIP) based sensors are now widely used and actively proposed as selective absorbent steps in analytical procedures. The previous use of MIPs was that of classic solid phase extraction cartridges, which fortunately led to successful commercially available products (e.g. for mycotoxins). It has recently evolved into the realization of synthetic approaches that produce MIP under more controlled conditions. The use of metallic, inorganic, magnetic or carbon-based nanomaterials as support material for MIPs certainly offers other options and added value depending on the approach used. One of the objectives of this review is a general overview of the types of sensors present such as: Capacitive sensors, Chemiresistor, Field effect transistor of chemical (CHEMFET), Electrochemical sensors, Piezoelectric biosensors, SPR biosensors, etc. The use of multiple detection approaches and the low cost of the devices result in on-site detection of contaminants such as in food, environmental, etc. with unprecedented sensitivity and selectivity.

      The review is clear and well designed. The author thoroughly examines all types of biosensors available using Molecular imprint polymers (MIPs). These sensors are used in the detection of contaminants such as in food, environmental, etc. with higher sensitivity and selectivity compared with previous studies. One of the objectives of this review is to provide a general overview of the types of sensors present such as: Capacitive sensors, Chemiresistor, Field effect transistor of chemical (CHEMFET), Electrochemical sensors, Piezoelectric biosensors, SPR biosensors, etc.
      The review underlines the importance of these devices for future applications and developments in the field.
