          Abstract:

The Vidal Mayor is an illuminated manuscript of the Furs of Aragon which has been studied exhaustively by historians of art and law, philologists and palaeographers. This paper posists that there is a close link between its iconography, the political intentions of Jaume I and the theses of the well-known book Policraticus, the most representative work of John of Salisbury and one of the most well-known mirror for princes in late medieval Europe
