          Abstract

Students with disabilities (SWDs) face numerous challenges in accessing and succeeding in post-school education in South Africa (Chiwandire & Vincent 2019; Ndlovu 2020). These are students with some type of visual, hearing, communication, physical, intellectual, emotional impairment and/or disability.

The reasons for this are fairly clear. Through most of the country’s history, infrastructure development and educational planning have prioritised the needs and conveniences of non-disabled people. It has only been in the last few decades that society has gradually become more aware of the inequalities such decisions have on differently abled people.
