Abstract
What is the relevance of Cicero’s OnDuties III to contemporary Zimbabwe? Writing a decade after the pedagogical exercise was conducted, onecannot help but realise the enduring nature of On Duties III. In Zimbabwe,the political events have since taken an even more interesting turn, havingyielded a military coup against Mugabe in November 2017. The state of theeconomy has not improved, however, while the army has been unleashedinto the streets.It should also be interesting to examine how Cicero wouldhave viewed some of the ‘test cases’ in the current imbabwean crisis.
