Aims\Purpose\Objectives:The purpose of this research was to develop a conceptual framework for analysing the relationship between supply chain strategy, competitive strategy and information systems strategy on performance based on mining contracting companies in Southern Africa.
Methodology\Approach: A sequential mixed method explanatory design methodology was applied, and the essential elements entail the quantitative and qualitative phases. The main quantitative phase consisted of probability sampling, survey quantitative data collection and quantitative data analysis. While the qualitative phase consisted of purposeful sampling, qualitative data collection and qualitative analysis.
Results:A conceptual framework that displays the alignment of supply chain strategy, competitive strategy and information systems strategy was developed and tested using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The values obtained were within an acceptable range. Secondly, a profile deviation approach, and results from linear regression showed that alignment was significantly associated with supply chain performance. Finally, the results were confirmed using qualitative pattern matching.
Conclusion:The conceptual framework can be used by entities to assess their own environments and assist managers in aligning business, information systems and supply chain strategies to improve firm performance .
