This poster presents a comprehensive overview of how Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) can reinvigorate the workflow in scholarly publishing, specifically benefiting editors, authors, typesetters, and other pivotal roles in the publication of journal articles. BPMN, through a secure environment, offers a clear and efficient roadmap for managing the intricate and often convoluted processes involved in academic publishing, while protecting your content.
Publishing over the past hundred years has always been at the forefront of technology. We want to visually show how everyone can keep doing what they do best, and let a good process handle all the rest. We aim to address the current challenges faced in scholarly publishing, including coordination difficulties among various stakeholders, time-consuming processes, and the potential for errors and inconsistencies. We introduce BPMN as a transformative solution, highlighting its capabilities in streamlining communication, standardizing procedures, and enhancing overall workflow clarity.
The poster should visually represent the publishing process from manuscript submission to final publication. This diagram serves as a practical guide, demonstrating how BPMN facilitates clear role delineation and task allocation among editors, authors, et al. We aim to address key processes involved in publishing.
Additionally, with the adaptability, we'll emphasize BPMN in accommodating various publishing models, including open access and traditional subscription-based models. It also addresses how BPMN can integrate with digital tools and platforms, further enhancing efficiency and collaboration.
