Quaterly overview of the cases received at CityMed Hospital of Pétion-Ville

Introduction

CityMed Hospital of Pétion-Ville receives various medical cases every day. Patientscome for general, gynecological, pediatric, dermatological, surgical, internal medicineand emergency consultations. The objective of this workis to show an overview of the cases seen in the hospital during the last trimester.

Method

This is a simple descriptive report. The data was collected from the dailyconsultation report book written by the nurses of the hospital, from December 12022 to February 28 2023. They are then presented in the form of frequencygroupings and graphs, using Excel and SPSS software.

Results

We have recorded a total of 902 consultations. But only 846 cases had sufficient data for this report. The median age of the patients was 30 years, with extremes of1 month and 92 years. The gender that mostfrequented the hospital was female ( Female 60.4% vs Male 39.6%, sex ratio 0.65). The patients came mainly from the town of PétionVille (85.1%) . The most encountered pathology were gastritis ( 11.9 % , n = 101). There has been only one death of a patienthospitalizedfollowing asevere cranioencephalic trauma.

Conclusion

In our work we have shown that gastritis is the most frequent pathology seen inconsultation in Pétion-Ville from December 2022 to February 2023 at the CityMed Hospital. More relevant information can be provided on the health of the population of Pétion-Ville from the data collected at CityMed Hospital in future reports.
