ABSTRACT

This study investigates the impact of training and skill development programs on the job performance of civil servants at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) in Lagos State. In today's dynamic public sector, enhancing employee competencies through structured training initiatives is critical to improving overall job performance and service delivery. The research examines the effectiveness of these programs in addressing skill gaps, enhancing productivity, and fostering professional growth among civil servants. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study gathers quantitative and qualitative data from PSSDC staff and evaluates the role of these programs in promoting efficiency and job satisfaction. The findings highlight the significance of continuous training in improving the capabilities of civil servants and provide insights into challenges faced in the implementation of such programs. Recommendations are offered to optimize the design and delivery of training initiatives, contributing to a more skilled and efficient workforce in the public sector.
