Abstract
Telemedicine, the remote delivery of healthcare services using telecommunications technology, has emerged as a critical tool in emergency and disaster response. This paper explores the deployment of telemedicine technology in such scenarios, highlighting its potential benefits and addressing the challenges it faces. Drawing on review of existing literature, case studies, and expert opinions, this paper identifies key problems hindering the effective implementation of telemedicine in emergency and disaster response, and the technologies in use on the field. Additionally, it discusses potential solutions and outlines an outlook for the future of telemedicine in mitigating the impact of emergencies and disasters on public health. It is evident that the power of telemedicine can be harnessed to manage the effect of disasters and emergencies on safety and the health of the public.
