          Abstract

          Translated abstract

Abstract In a reverse movement to the fruitful efforts of demonstrating the presence of classical issues in recent social theory, we aim to reread the classics, particularly Marx and Durkheim, through a contemporary grammar. Specifically, our intention is to show how what has been labeled as the "praxeological turn" in contemporary social theory is also a detectable movement within the Marxian and Durkheimian corpus, particularly in their later works, Capital and The Elementary Forms of Religious Life. In the case of Marx, this can be seen in his concept of fetishism, while in the case of Durkheim, it lies in the centrality attributed to ritual practices and social effervescence in understanding social formation.
